Concept
With the landscape as our muse, explore the possibilities for personalizing imagery and communicating your intent. Join Colette in this workshop designed to advance your specific goals in art as you work from your own photo references, use watercolor for underpainting, and create a finished pastel painting. Emphasis is placed on working in a supportive environment to develop skills, practice techniques, and attend to your personal artistic development.
Experience
Through slide lectures, painting demonstrations, and numerous examples, Colette provides instruction in various ways for working from photos to produce a finished pastel painting. One-on-one guidance and encouragement are provided during generous working time each day. A collaborative atmosphere provides plenty of growth opportunities.
Skill Level
Previous pastel experience is required.

INSTRUCTOR
After leaving her position as an art teacher in the public school district and on the flipside of a serious illness, Colette Odya Smith came to her art career midlife. Since then, she has built an award-winning practice, complete with Master Pastellist recognitions from multiple societies. In the classroom, she creates an atmosphere of trust where everyone learns together through listening, looking, sharing, laughing, and eating chocolate. When not making work, Colette loves to travel, garden, connect with her grandchildren, and watch black and white movies.
