Concept

Alla prima studies are often the prized possession of plein air artists. Discover the fresh accuracy of working from observation en plein air. Learn how to select your composition, translate value into color, capture light, and develop nuanced brushwork to create lively, structurally sound paintings. This is a rigorous and fun-filled outdoor still life workshop conducted in the landscape with the convenience of being within a few steps of the beautiful studio.

Experience

Lessons focus on drawing, value, composition, and color harmonies, as well as equipment, materials, and setup. Work right outside the studio doors with an outdoor still life each day featuring fresh cut flowers. Plenty of time is dedicated to painting with individualized feedback provided by Bethann. Leave this workshop with an understanding of alla prima painting, daily studies, finished work, and new ideas to inform your work.

Skill Level

Designed for those who are new or with some experience painting en plein air.
