Are you ready to scale your vision and take your work to the next level? Embrace the physicality, planning, and ambition it takes to work BIG with oil and cold wax in this advanced workshop. Emphasis is placed on the interplay of intuition and structure as you experiment with large substrates and develop confidence in scaling your process.

Experience

Through daily demonstrations, focused handouts, and individualized attention, explore how to plan and execute compositions that have maximum visual impact. With Karen as your guide, revisit foundational principles, color theory, and texture creation while pushing them to new extremes. Learn advanced editing strategies and discover how to amplify depth and atmosphere in your paintings. Leave this workshop with multiple finished pieces, honed techniques, and a solid understanding of presenting work on a larger scale, including framing and display considerations.

SUPPLY LIST

INSTRUCTOR

Fusing traditional art principles with exploratory techniques and materials, Karen Sako's abstract work examines the elusive quality of light and the complexity of nature. She brings enthusiasm and optimism to the classroom, where she continually invests her time and shares her trade secrets and findings with her students. Her goal is to ignite the next generation of pioneering creative visionaries and thinkers. Karen holds a BFA in Visual Communications from the Illinois Institute of Art and is an accomplished abstract artist, graphic designer, and instructor.
