Concept and Experience:

The first day of this series focuses on fundamental jewelry making skills as you work through the fabrication of at least one sterling silver stackable ring. Learn how to texture, form, solder, and complete your ring(s) to a desired finish. Those with more experience have the option to create a decorative stacking ring with an element soldered to it.

Textured Bangles

For Days 1 & 2

Concept and Experience:

In the second day of this series, advance your skills as you create a collection of hammered sterling silver bracelets. Learn how to size, form, solder, hammer, and apply patina to your pieces. Play with complementary textures, thicknesses, and wire working for a truly unique set of bangles.

Hoop & Loop Earrings

For Days 1, 2, & 3

Concept and Experience:
Building upon skills learned and strengthened in days one and two, explore the possibilities of these techniques through the design and fabrication of two styles of earrings on day three. Create a pair of beautifully embellished hoops using texture, wire manipulation, patina and more. For the final project of this series, participate in a class-wide collaboration where each student, as well as Sarah, contributes a set of elements for others to use in the construction of their own dangle loop earrings. Challenge yourself to blend and complement different approaches and aesthetics in one piece. Create a pair of earrings that truly encapsulate your class experience!

Instructor:

Sarah Mann is an accomplished professional jeweler of over 20 years. She studied jewelry design under Heikki Seppa at Washington University in St Louis and at the Fuji Studio in Florence, Italy. Being a maker connects Sarah to her deep family roots of craftsmen and inventors. She brings her “go-for-it!” attitude to teaching; encouraging her students to set aside fear, intimidation, and lack of knowledge to pursue their interests. After all, mistakes often lead to the greatest discoveries. When not making work, Sarah gardens...a lot. Her passion is native gardening, which she finds to be relaxing, meditative, and inspiring.
