Concept and Experience

This workshop introduces young artists to papier-mâché as a durable material for creating sculptural artworks. Techniques are first introduced and practiced on a bowl or vase before moving onto larger endeavors. Draw inspiration from papier-mâché artist duo Chiazzo and the fantastical folk art tradition of Alebrijes carried on by artists Alberto Moreno and Edgar Camargo. Learn how to add dimensional elements and features to create a truly unique sculpture. Pieces are completed using tempera paint.
