Concept and Experience

In this half-day lecture and discussion, Midwest artist and PenArt artist-in-residence alum Maeve Jackson contextualizes PenArt founder Madeline Tourtelot's film work within female film history and women in film today. After being introduced to Madeline's work during her time as a resident, Maeve saw parallels between her and Madeline's approach to filmmaking that cross distance and time - two women from different times, who never met, were similarly capturing the world around them through the device of a camera. Join Maeve as she discusses women's historical influence on filmmaking and her on-going research on Madeline Tourtelot's collection of films through the lenses of connection, female sensibility, and approaches to filmmaking.
