Concept

Learn how to make convincing, sensitive portraits that are true to life through a progressive and anatomical approach. Practice and gain confidence in seeing, understanding, and translating visual phenomena using the fundamentals of drawing.

Experience

Through demonstrations and individualized instruction, Will introduces a variety of topics, including creating a strong likeness through accurate drawing, seeing value and the effects of light, and understanding cranial structure. Using a simple step-by-step process, draw from a clothed model to complete a series of exercises and the beginnings of a finished portrait.

Skill Level

All levels of experience welcome.

Instructor

Will Dickinson grew up in Alexandria, VA and Washington, DC, where he was exposed to the arts at a young age. This influenced his decisions to pursue an education at the University of Pennsylvania College of Arts and Sciences and the Glasgow School of Art, where he majored in Fine Arts and Anthropology, graduating with high honors. Will was a guest artist in Umbria, Italy for two years, which informed his artistic works and inspired him to become an instructor. For over a decade he has taught indoor and outdoor drawing and painting classes. Will is currently an instructor with Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in Green Bay, WI, where he maintains a studio.
