Tues-Thurs, June 23-25 | 9am-4pm
Drawing | All Levels
Members: $475 | Non-Members: $505
Concept
Gain confidence with drawing the head and hands! Spend three days taking the intimidation out of drawing these complex forms by simplifying them into memorable geometric forms that can then be further refined.
Experience
Working from a clothed model each day, learn bony and muscular landmarks, proportions, and gestural qualities of these body parts. Discover anatomical and structural tips such as why the parts between the facial features are key to achieving likeness, and how varying length and direction to each phalange in the fingers is one of the secrets to drawing the hand - along with many other details to make your drawings of heads and hands feel real and natural. Amy provides interactive demonstrations and individual guidance throughout each day.
Skill Level
All levels welcome.
Instructor
Amy Fichter was trained in classical figure drawing and has been teaching it daily for over twenty years. As an educator, she has a deep regard for the tradition of constructive drawing. Learning that methodology changed Amy's life as an artist and is one she shares with her students. Her creative work includes figure drawings in soft pastel that honor the women in her life and their relationship to their environments. She also works in photography and printmaking and has shown over 70 exhibitions regionally, nationally, and internationally. When not in the studio, she lifts weights and competes in Crossfit and bodybuilding, reads, gardens, and spends time with her husband and cats. Amy earned her MFA from the University of South Carolina and teaches at UW-Stout.
