Concept and Experience

In this workshop everything from single pop-ups to tunnel books to more complicated structures are explored. Tunnel books are defined by their stage-like window containing different layers of an image. Students begin by designing the image they want their book to show. Separating the image into foreground, mid-ground, and background layers, they construct their book. Basic drawing, painting, and collage techniques are demonstrated. Different themes prompt each book form.
