Current Artists-in-Residence

Spring 2026

Emma McKay Ryan

Emma McKay Ryan (she/her) is an artist who was born and raised in Nebraska and is now living and working in Metro Detroit. She earned her MFA in Studio Art with a minor in Visual and Material Culture from the University of Notre Dame and is a Studio Manager for the Print Media Department at Cranbrook Academy of Art. Her work critiques beauty standards amplified by social media, exaggerating imagery from influencers and advertisements. By combining figuration and abstraction, Emma examines how digital culture shapes self-perception and the internalized scrutiny experienced by many young women.

Anna Schenker

Anna Schenker (she/her) creates rubbings, paintings, and sculptures that record direct interaction with her immediate surroundings. Through physical actions and systems for making, she uses touch as a tool to gain understanding and preserve a moment in time. These close investigations seek to slow down our initial perception of environments and create space for wonder and play. Anna received her BS in Art and Psychology from Skidmore College and an MFA in Visual Art from Washington University in St. Louis. She is based in St. Louis, MO.
