Concept

How does an artist construct color, build successful color relationships in a painting, and choose a palette of pigments from which to work? If you've ever asked these questions, this rich color theory workshop is for you! Gain an understanding of the mechanics of color and harness the power of color theory in your practice.

Experience

Engage with the long history of color in painting through foundational principles of color theory and historical examples of different palettes used by artists throughout time. In addition, explore the psychological and cultural contexts that shape meaning-making within color theory principles. As you build your knowledge of color through both technical and theoretical lessons, apply these strategies in real time while developing paintings of your own. Lydia provides individualized feedback throughout the workshop.

Skill Level

Some prior painting experience with any medium required. Although this class is taught using acrylic paints, the principles learned can be applied to any painting medium and are relevant to any artist or craftsperson.
