Concept and Experience

In this hands-on workshop, students learn a variety of metalsmithing skills that all come together in a cool and unique personal expression! With Heather as their guide, students play with different ways of adding texture to pierced copper layers, including stamping, roller printing, hammered textures, and transfers. Next, everyone explores possibilities in color using powdercoat and patina techniques. All of these elements come together with rivets and the right findings for each piece to create a pendant, brooch, wall hanging...or a combination of all three! Students leave with newfound confidence along with useful skills and at least one object made from start to finish. No prior metalsmithing experience necessary.
