Abstract Possibilities | Ages 10-12

Concept and Experience

Focused on line, shape, color, and texture, this workshop investigates the world of abstract painting. The work of Joan Mitchell, Julie Mehretu, Shane Walsh, Agnes Martin, Frank Stella, and more provide inspiration throughout the week. Students learn how to simplify the surrounding world to create an abstract image, as well as more expressive and geometric approaches. Pieces are completed using colored pencils, markers, inks, watercolor, tempera paint, and mixed media.
