90s Inspired Ceramics | Ages 10-12

Concept and Experience

In this workshop, young artists reference popular toys and fads from the 1990s to explore the sculptural possibilities of clay. Pinch, coil, and slab construction are used to create a series of pieces, including small worlds inspired by Polly Pocket, figurine planters based on Chia Pets, game console controller sculptures, Troll Dolls, and keychains and magnets. Students decorate the surfaces of their pieces with texture tools and brightly colored underglazes.
