Selection Process and Criteria
Applications are reviewed by a rotating committee of artists, educators, and arts professionals. The selection process consists of an online review followed by a full committee meeting. Every effort is made to ensure an impartial and broadly inclusive review process. Residents are selected based on the creativity, innovation, and skill of their work; potential for career development and growth; and readiness to engage with and benefit from the residency experience offered at PenArt.
Notifications to all applicants are sent via email after the selection committee has made its final decision and references have been contacted. The selection process takes approximately eight weeks from the application deadline.
