INSTRUCTOR

Dr. John Hallett is a sculptor, veterinarian, log rolling coach, and Nordic ski racer with a Master of Fine Arts from Minneapolis College of Art and Design. After over 30 years as a veterinarian and practice owner, he shifted to being a full time sculptor. He uses his background in science and veterinary medicine to inform his art practice. He is drawn to create sculptures that come from his unique perspective and enjoys inspiring others to investigate trees, forests and animals. He creates the trophies for the Stihl Timbersports U.S. Nationals, the Lumberjack World Championships and the American Birkebeiner Ski Race. Hallett splits his time between Oconomowoc and Seeley, Wisconsin. He shares his lifelong passion for art with others as he encourages them to let their creativity flow and invite the technical process into the final product. He taught bronze and pewter casting workshops in Tucson, Arizona and was a teaching assistant at Minneapolis College of Art and Design. In a perfectionistic world, art is one place where everyone can embrace imperfection while creating something meaningful and beautiful.
