Concept
Develop your observational skills and discover a more personal relationship with nature as you explore natural subjects through art. Bring art and science together as you practice techniques for illustrating nature in watercolor.
Experience
Demonstrations and hands-on practice introduce techniques for rendering natural subjects in watercolor. Guided explorations in sketching, observational drawing, and color mixing enhance the experience as you learn to look closely. Using personal photo references of plant, animal, and natural specimens, work through practice exercises to build into complete compositions. Nurture your creativity, improve your artistic skill, and experience plants, nature, and our shared environment in new ways.
Skill Level
Open to students of all levels working in drawing and watercolor; some drawing/watercolor experience is helpful but not mandatory.

INSTRUCTOR
Rebecca Jabs is an artist and educator whose work is an observation of nature with a hint of narrative. Her philosophy and methods encourage students to develop a closer relationship with nature - draw to learn as you learn to draw! Rebecca has a background and degree in art education, but her dual interests in art and science led her to the Science Illustration Graduate Program at California State University at Monterey Bay. Today she works as a freelance illustrator and part-time college drawing instructor. When not making work, Rebecca is an active member of the birding community; going few places without a pair of binoculars.
