Concept
In this one-day workshop, build a tubular container or reliquary to house your personal hidden treasures, notes, cremains, or other valuables. This container can be designed to be worn as a pendant or as a small decorative object.
Experience
Following many of the same techniques used to make a hollow form tube bead, this process beings with copper tubing as the base; housing an interior glass vial to hold your chosen object(s). From there, explore a variety of techniques in which to embellish and personalize your reliquary, including cutting and piercing, texturing, stone setting, dapping, stamping, and wire wrapping. Susan provides demonstrations and individualized instruction throughout the day.
Skill Level
Designed for those who have metalsmithing and soldering experience.

INSTRUCTOR
The first half of Susan Richter-O’Connell’s life was spent in pursuit of a career in dance, and the second is immersed in metalsmithing. Though seemingly very different art forms, she believes her first studio practice greatly informs her second. Susan is a nurturer by nature. In the classroom, she creates a safe environment in which she encourages taking creative risks, being vulnerable, and contributing to the group’s journey. Susan’s wisdom comes from predominantly being a self taught metalsmith, and believes in sharing with her students the mistakes that precede the successes!
