Concept
Acrylic paint, in its versatility, pairs well with many other media. Chalk (or soft) pastels are a great complement to acrylics as they are water-soluble, boldly colored, and expressive in mark. Combining acrylics and pastels offers a broad range of creative possibilities.
Experience
Working in acrylics as the primary medium and pastels as the secondary medium, express from your own chosen subject matter and experiment with the techniques shared during the day's demonstrations. Wet on wet, dry on wet, mark-making, and fixing fundamentals are covered for working on both paper and canvas. Aesthetic and compositional benefits are also explored.
Skill Level
All are welcome. Some prior art making experience is helpful.

INSTRUCTOR
Born and raised in Milwaukee, Beki Borman knew she wanted to be an artist from a young age. She earned her BFA in Painting from Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. Today, Beki creates abstract landscapes that explore color, shape, and contrast using acrylic paint and a knife as her primary tool. As an educator, she believes art should be accessible and enjoyable for all. She reminds her students it’s never too late to start and that we’re all on our own journey. When not teaching or painting, Beki likes to read, write, exercise, and play with her kids and dog.
