Try Something New
We recognize that stepping out of one’s comfort zone can be daunting, and we’ve heard every excuse to not take the first step – you don’t have the time, you neglected your creativity and now it’s gone, you’re too old, you’re too young, you don’t have the right training or degree, you might fail. Part of what makes taking risks possible at PenArt is the inclusive and accessible nature of our programming, staff and faculty, and campus. We believe we can find the right experience for every individual, no matter the excuse.
Designed for those looking to make something in the studio for the very first time, our Try It Program offers monthly, three-hour workshops that focus on basic techniques in a variety of media, including ceramics, metalsmithing, photography, screen printing, painting, and drawing. Instructors guide students through the process of creating a small project from start to finish. Leave with new skills and perhaps even the desire to continue exploring your creative interests in one of our other offerings. PenArt provides all of the tools and materials needed.
