Contemporary printmaking is thriving, with artists turning to new digital approaches, renewing traditional techniques, and printing on and with alternative tools. This invitational exhibition demonstrates the vitality of printmaking throughout the Midwest. The featured works explore a broad variety of traditional as well as contemporary printmaking techniques, from muku hanga (Japanese woodblock) to etching to offset lithography and digital prints.
Collectively, the exhibition represents the wide range of possibility that exists within the realm of printmaking. Individually, the work explores themes of person and place, transitions from present to past, mortality, and search for balance therein.
