From the Ashes: Works in Charcoal, Graphite and Ink

August 17 – September 15

Drawing is central to an artist's creative process—despite advances in technology— the medium and many of the techniques used remain unchanged. From The Ashes: Works in Charcoal, Graphite and Ink highlights both the process of drawing and of drawing’s place as a medium within itself. The exhibition includes works by, Craig Blietz (WI), Jaron Childs (WI), Stuart Fullerton (IL), Emmet Johns (WI), Stanka Kordic (OH), Sookyi Lee (CA), Todd Mrozinksi (WI), and Susan Messer (WI). The artists use line, touch, and trace in works that communicate mental states, project invented worlds, or portray moments of contemplation. The range of approaches presented attests to the effervescence of drawing and its contribution to contemporary art.
